Our team at Murillo Mechanical wants to help you stay warm this upcoming winter, and that starts with helping you keep your heating system in good condition. We offer expert heating maintenance services that will keep your system in peak condition, but we also want to empower you to take better care of your system in between professional maintenance appointments. In this article, we will go over a few things you can do to maintain your heating system.

Heating Maintenance 101

  • Change Your Air Filters – One key step in both air conditioning and heating maintenance is to regularly change out your air filters. Over time, these filters accumulate dust and dirt, and once they reach their limit, they need to be replaced. Clogged and dirty filters will impede airflow and force your system to work harder to maintain your desired temperature.
  • Keep the Burners Clean – Another step you can take to keep your heating system in good condition is to keep the burners free of debris. We recommend that you vacuum around the outside of your unit and the surrounding area to get rid of dirt and debris that could clog these essential components, but we also recommend that you leave cleaning the burners themselves to us. This area should only be cleaned when the heating system is not in use and is shut off completely.
  • Get Professional Inspections – A third key step in heating maintenance is to have your system professionally inspected once a year—ideally in the fall before you have to start using your heating regularly. Our experts will check your system for any problems and correct any issues we find so that when it gets colder, you can trust that your heating system will keep you warm without issue.
